The Automated Transit Network (ATN) Demonstration Pilot connecting the SkyTrain at Georgia International Convention Center to the Arena will open to the public for free in South Metro Atlanta in December 2026.
The proof-of-concept project is designed to demonstrate the feasibility, networkability, passenger capacity and scalability of an ATN transit system designed to deliver cost-effective, personalized transit technology in a real-world environment Glydways technology.
In 2018, AACIDs, in collaboration with the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT), Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA), Fulton County, Clayton County and the City of College Park, to conduct a first/last-mile connectivity feasibility study within the CIDs boundaries. The results of the study identified three solutions; including Microtransit, Autonomous Shuttles and ATN.
ATN is planned, designed, constructed and operated by the Atlanta Personal Rapid Transit Solutions (APRTS) project team. Powered by Glydways technology, this first-of-its-kind system will connect the Skytrain at the Georgia International Convention Center (GICC) to the Gateways Arena.
The ATN will operate five autonomous vehicles operating along a 0.49-mile long dedicated guideway, running four days a week for up to eight hours per day. With an average trip time of 2.5 minutes, the system can accommodate more than 400 rides per hour. The guideway will provide direct connections between the Arena, the new regional trailhead and the SkyTrain Station. The pilot demonstration will run for 24 months beginning at the end of 2026.
